AFCO's Gary Cornell Honored as
2016 IIABSC Industry Person of the Year

Gary Cornell, Vice President and Senior Business Development Officer with AFCO and its sister company Prime Rate Premium Finance, has been named the 2016 IIABSC Industry Person of the Year by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of South Carolina (IIABSC).

The award recognizes industry representatives other than independent insurance agents who have contributed greatly to the insurance industry in South Carolina. The IIABSC’s announcement of the award noted, “Cornell has always put independent insurance agents first and has built a long and dedicated career of helping agents be better at serving their customers.” 

Alan Malone, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for AFCO-Prime Rate, said, “This is a wonderful reflection of Gary’s commitment and professionalism. Gary was nominated by his peers, which consists of agents and company personnel, and then voted on by the Executive Board of the IIABSC. That shows how highly he is regarded by top professionals in the industry. This is a tremendous honor for Gary, and very well-deserved.”

Celebrating his 30th anniversary with AFCO and Prime Rate in 2016, Cornell is as passionate about giving back to the industry as he is about helping agents support their insureds, and he is actively engaged in promoting IIABSC efforts to support younger agents.  In 2013, he was recognized with a Chairman’s Citation for service to the association.  The IIABSC presented Cornell with its 2016 Industry Person of the Year award at the association’s annual meeting on Oct 31.

IIABSC, with statewide membership of approximately 400 insurance agencies and branch offices, is South Carolina’s oldest and largest association of property and casualty insurance agents.

FAIA Honors Justin Liebman as Young Agent Associate Member of the Year

AFCO’s Justin Liebman, CIC, AAI, received the 2015-16 Young Agent Associate Member of the Year Award from the Young Agents Council (YAC) of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA), at the invitation-only Young Agents Council luncheon held during the FAIA’s 2016 Convention in Orlando on June 17, 2016.

Liebman, a Business Development Officer for AFCO and its sister company Prime Rate Premium Finance, was recognized for his contributions to the FAIA’s Young Agents Council during the past year, and for exemplifying professionalism and ethical behavior. The Florida Association of Insurance Agents Young Agents Council was created to support and encourage the professional development of young agents and those new to the field.

AFCO CE Class at Southwest VA Education Expo, April 5th

AFCO’s accredited Continuing Education (CE) course in Premium Finance is being offered to independent agents attending the Southwest VA Education Expo on April 5th.

IIABA-LA Honors AFCO’s Mark Todd with the 2016 Robb Greenspan Service Award

Congratulations to AFCO’s Mark Todd, Assistant Vice President and Business Development Officer, honored as the recipient of the 2016 Robb Greenspan Service Award from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association of Los Angeles (IIABA-LA). The group is the Los Angeles chapter of the IIABCal, the state's largest trade association, representing independent insurance agents and insurance brokers in California. Robb Greenspan is a Principal and Executive General Adjuster for The Greenspan Company/Adjusters International.

The 2016 Robb Greenspan Service award acknowledges Mark Todd’s outstanding service to the insurance industry and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association of Los Angeles, which was established 106 years ago. While presenting the award to Mark, Robb Greenspan himself said, “Mark has serviced this industry well, and he’s just one heck of a guy and one of my favorite people. Mark, nobody deserves this more than you.”

Mark Todd was born and raised in San Diego and attended Patrick Henry High School where he found his first love, baseball. Following high school, he was accepted at the University of Southern California (USC) on a baseball scholarship as a standout left-handed pitcher.

After graduation from USC with a degree in Economics, Mark started working in the world of commercial insurance. Now in his fifth year with AFCO, Mark serves clients all across greater Los Angeles and Southern California. During his free time, Mark spends time with his family, enjoys working out, (including Krav Maga martial arts), and is fixing up the house he purchased last year. He also travels the world and enjoys being a Big Brother to kids within the Los Angeles Area.


AFCO’s Wes Becknell Takes Leadership Role as Texas Statewide Director of Finance for Young Risk Professionals Association

Congratulations to AFCO’s Wes Becknell, Assistant Vice President & Business Development Officer, for his appointment to the Board of Directors as Texas Statewide Director of Finance for the Young Risk Professionals (YRP) association.

The YRP’s mission is to help develop, encourage and promote professionals wanting to advance the risk management and insurance industry. Wes, who was awarded the 2015 Young Associate of the Year Award from the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT), joined AFCO in 2013 with responsibility for a sizeable sales territory covering Southwest Texas and New Mexico.

In addition to maintaining his CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and CSRM (Certified School Risk Manager) industry certifications, Wes has been active on the IIAT Young Professionals Council and the IIAT Young Agents Council. He also does regular volunteer service work on behalf of several non-profit organizations in the San Antonio area and currently serves as President of the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce.

You may continue to use any of our other options for making payments, including regular mail and the free option to make recurring auto-debit payments from your checking account on the due date.

Jim Williamson Named North American Sales Manager of Market-Leading AFCO, CAFO & Prime Rate Insurance Premium Finance Companies

James “Jim” D. Williamson has been named North American sales manager of AFCO, CAFO, and Prime Rate Premium Finance Companies, affiliated companies that together comprise the insurance industry’s leading premium finance provider.

Williamson joins AFCO, CAFO and Prime Rate from Marsh & McLennan where, since 2012, he has been managing director/national premium finance practice leader responsible for all aspects of Marsh USA premium finance transactions. Williamson has more than 20 years of premium finance experience, including 16 years in sales management.

In his new role, Williamson is responsible for driving strategies for revenue growth, cultivating client relationships and managing the premium finance sales team throughout the U.S. and Canada. He reports to Richard “Rick” Fowler, president and CEO.
